Primeau Productions: 2025 First Report on Videotape Usage

Primeau Productions is pleased to present the very latest market research statistics on the videotape industry. Though Primeau Productions is based in Greenville, South Carolina and works with clients in the South Carolina and Georgia region, we have many friends and former clients who live in other areas of the U.S. The unbiased nationwide statistics we show reflect year-end 2024.

Are Business Organizations Still Committed to Video?

At year-end 2024, about 89% of all “businesses” are still using video for advertising, marketing, training and safety purposes. This is down, but slightly, from 2023 which posted a 91% commitment. However, the average use from 2018 to 2022 was about 86%. All sorts of businesses from single entrepreneurs to major conglomerates are all-in on video.

More importantly, 95% of all marketers see video as an important part of their overall marketing strategy. This huge buy-in percentage ranges from nonprofits to retail to healthcare providers to heavy manufacturers and food processors. This percentage dramatically climbed from the prior year which was at 88%. It is much more than “optimism.” In fact, more than 37% of those businesses that did not use video claim it was because they simply have enough time last year.

Of all the video that was produced across the nation, about 55% is known as “live action.” Live action may be an interview, an advertisement by a company spokesperson, an instructional video or other informational tools.

Live action over-shadows animated video by more than 30%. One way to interpret this is that potential customers, clients, even patients favor the connection with real people rather than an animated cartoon. By the way, about 55% of all video is produced by outside contractors. For example, our valued South Carolina and Georgia clients come to Primeau Productions because we can provide video tools (such as animation and clips) along with a higher production quality and better editing than they are capable of doing in-house.

“Explain this to me!”

According to the most recent findings, “73% of video marketers have created explainer videos, making this the most popular singular use case for video marketing in 2025.”

According to the experts, “An explainer video is a short-form video that showcases a company’s brand, history, features, products, or services. Explainer videos are multifaceted and can be used for training, customer and employee onboarding, marketing, or sales purposes.”

In our work at Primeau Productions we produce explainer videos for all sorts of clients who want to connect with potential audiences to show them what they do, what their customer service philosophy might be or even why they might be the best speaker for an audience.

There is nothing like video for creating connection. It is why many realtors; insurance companies, healthcare providers and financial institutions have turned to explainer videos that are embedded in their websites. Without connection, a firm or single provider is simply so-so, “one of the bunch.” With connection, with an explainer video, the company or person comes to life in three-dimension.

One final piece of information on this topic from the latest research is that, “social media videos can be shot in the office on your iPhone, but a product demo or explainer video is likely to require a professional touch.”

In other words, “technology” may enable a certain leveling of the video playing field, but it takes a professional videographer to make the spectacular plays. At Primeau Productions we look forward to making plays for your company in 2025.
