“There will always be a replacement coming along very soon – a newer version, a crazier version, a louder version. So, if you haven’t got a long-term plan, then you are merely a passing phase, the latest trend, yesterday’s event.” – Grace Jones, Entertainer, Model, Actress
Primeau Productions writes, edits, produces and helps clients with their video needs throughout South Carolina and Georgia. We also consult and work with clients in specialty areas on a nationwide basis. Script to screen, we produce videos that help our customers make an impact in their fields.
Whether you are a South Carolina homebuilder or a national speaker who talks about home and business insurance, Primeau Productions is about video excellence, and not video trends. There is quite a difference.
What were people viewing?
We might think the most popular business videos had “clever elements” reflecting a popular trend in fashion or food or entertainment. In fact, following such trends usually results in disappointment. As the above quote wisely states: , if you haven’t got a long-term plan, then you are merely a passing phase.
Regrettably, many videos that are currently being produced, miss their message. They are so busy trying to be trendy, they fail to get viewership.
Among the most popular business videos nationwide include “What do I do if I want to become a medical coder?” “How to start a business (in 2024),” “The 10 Biggest Business Trends,” “Top 6 Medical Innovations,” and similar videos for all profit and nonprofit fields.
At first glance, it may seem as though the videos have nothing in common and certainly nothing a business or practice in Greenville or Athens could relate to in terms of video production. In fact, all of the videos perfectly align. Primeau Productions viewed these most popular videos and many more, and here is what we found:
Best Videos Have 9-Trends in Common
1. Viewers want explanations. The so-called explainer videos get a lot of traction.
2. Viewers want authenticity. Real spokespeople don’t need to be slick; they must be authentic in their beliefs. Don’t tell, show. The spokespeople we viewed were real people, not paid actors.
3. Viewers want information. Customers and clients are busy (or haven’t you noticed?)! The best videos get to the point. They make the point without a lot of fluff.
4. Yesterday’s trends are yesterday. Following a stale trend makes for stale viewing. Avoid trendy phrases, songs, slang and costuming – unless that’s your business.
5. Viewers want follow-thru. For example, a realtor video promising to show a new condo complex, then switching mid-stream to fee structures or other properties is a turn-off.
6. Viewers expect “professionalism.” There are “classically bad” videos of surgeons or lawyers or other professionals who intentionally made the videos into jokes to relieve tension or anxiety. Truth is, such strategy sometimes makes the anxiety even worse. Be real, be human, but not flippant (unless the video is for a comedy club).
7. Viewers want quality. NONE of the top videos we viewed were shaky, grainy, muted or sloppy. That kind of stuff might have been OK, 20-years ago, but not in today’s competitive market. Primeau Productions has state-of-the-art equipment for all phases of productions.
8. Viewers want positivity. The world is filled with negativity and negative people. Your video as with all good 2024 videos must be positive in presentation and content.
9. Viewers want a plan. Good video doesn’t ramble. Have a plan and stick to it.
