Why YouTube and TikTok Matter

“The obvious takeaway here is the diverse ways in which marketers are using video to try and achieve their goals. A wide range of (social media) channels are in use…” – Wyzowl Market Research 2023

To those folks who have never used social media and to those who wonder aloud what the “commotion” is about in putting a video on YouTube or TikTok, we would advise you take a second, even a third look.

Social media is an extremely versatile marketing tool, not just in major cities, but in mid-sized markets and small towns. Videos are widely posted and seen on social media marketing platforms. One video may be posted to several sites with excellent results. A professionally scripted and shot video can be equally as effective in getting social media reach in Easley as in Atlanta. The reach of video to audiences can be impactful no matter what you are selling or where you are located.

Video posted on social media has a strong ROI, return on investment, much higher than print advertising or brochures, or electronic media such as television or radio. Video is “evergreen,” and can be re-used and re-purposed.

Primeau Productions, based in Greenville, South Carolina has seen client video effectively used on a wide range of social media outlets with all sorts of businesses. Script to screen, Primeau Productions can work with your organization and turn your idea into an effective social media marketing and advertising tool.

Social Media and Video

At the end of 2023, the top 5 most desirable social media marketing platforms for video were:

YouTube (90-percent), Facebook (86-percent), Instagram (79-percent), LinkedIn (76-percent) and Twitter (“X”) at 69-percent. However, 2023 saw some “new” players challenge the video marketing scene including TikTok and Snapchat. In fact, TikTok has pulled even with Twitter at 69-percent. Snapchat is now used by at least 57-percent of advertisers on social media.

A common question we get at Primeau Productions is if the same video can be used on a variety of social media sites? The answer is usually “Yes,” but it can depend on the complexity of what you need to market. In marketing just about anything on social media, the adage of “less is more” usually applies.

The latest research has found that:

“Most marketers report success with short-form videos. 30-60 seconds is the most effective length according to 39% of marketers, followed by 1-2 minutes (28%), 30 seconds or less (18%), 2-3 minutes (10%) and 3 minutes or more (just 5%.)”

We often speak with marketers who insist on creating their own content because they are convinced of their ingenuity or inventiveness. Unfortunately, their videos often fail to get the desired results. A 30-60 second video needs to say just enough, but not too much. It needs to present imagery that is focused, important and relevant.

It must also be remembered that social media is not always a matter of one size fitting all. Facebook is generally an older audience while TikTok is much younger. LinkedIn is the domain of the professional user while Instagram is often more light hearted.

However, part of video’s beauty can be its versatility and editing are possible from the same video for addressing different audiences. It takes a professional touch.

YouTube, TikTok, Twitter (‘X’), all of them matter. Your business or practice matter.

Good writing, exceptional equipment and professional production, all expert areas of South Carolina-based Primeau Productions can attract customers, clients and patients across all social media platforms.
